Efficiency (J/TH)
Efficiency (J/TH) is an indicator of a mining device's energy efficiency, reflecting the amount of energy consumed to perform one terahash of computations.
The value is measured in joules per terahash (J/TH) and is calculated as the ratio of the device's power consumption to its Hashrate.
Interpretation of the value:
- A lower J/TH value indicates higher energy efficiency of the device.
- A higher J/TH value means increased power consumption per unit of computational power.
Practical significance:
The Efficiency metric is used for:
- evaluating the economic efficiency of mining;
- comparing different ASIC miner models;
- selecting optimal operating modes (frequency, voltage);
- analyzing the impact of firmware and settings on power consumption.
Impact on operation:
A low J/TH value:
- reduces electricity costs;
- decreases heat generation;
- increases mining profitability at a fixed electricity cost.
Typical ranges:
- ≤ 30 J/TH — high energy efficiency
- 30–35 J/TH — standard efficiency
- > 40 J/TH — low energy efficiency
