Organization: Overview
Starting with v1.0.0-alpha4, Pulse is a multi-user system. The owner of a Business account organizes sites under an organization, invites the team, and configures permissions and accessible sites for each member.
Components of an Organization
| Concept | Description |
|---|---|
| Organization | The shared workspace of a company: sites, firmware suites library, members. Created when Business is selected |
| Member | A Pulse user who accepted an invitation to the organization. Each member has their own account, login, and password |
| Role | A member's set of permissions: which operations they can perform and which sections they can see. Assigned during invitation |
| Site Access | Sites that the member can view and interact with. Owner and Administrator see all sites, while others only see assigned ones |
Organization
├── Sites
│ └── Agents → Scan Tasks → Devices
└── Members
└── Role + Accessible Sites
A member's permissions are determined by the combination of their role and accessible sites: the role answers "what can be done", and the sites answer "where".
Example: Mining Farm Team
| Persona | Role | Sites | What they do in Pulse |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Owner | Owner | All | Everything, including organization settings |
| Chief Technology Officer | Administrator | All | Manages equipment and team |
| Chief Site Engineer | Operations Manager | "North Farm" | Agents, firmware, overclocking, automation on their site |
| On-duty Technician | Technician | "North Farm" | Reboots devices, sets devices to service mode |
| Hosting Client | Viewer / Customer | "Hosting Room 2" | Monitors metrics of their own equipment |
Getting Started with a Team
- Ensure the account type is Business — check the Plan card in Account → General. If it is Personal, upgrade to Business (see "Personal and Business").
- Set the organization name and description in Organization → Organization settings — invitees will see this info.
- Create sites in Organization → Sites.
- Invite team members in Organization → Members → Add member, selecting a role and sites for each (see "Inviting Members").
- Monitor team roster and manage permissions in Members (see "Managing Members").
Navigation in a Business Account
The sidebar menu is divided into three sections:
Current site
├── Dashboard
├── Miners
├── Agents
└── Automation
Organization
├── Sites
├── Firmware suites
├── Members
└── Organization settings (Owner only)
Account
- Current site — working with the active site: monitoring, devices, agents, automation.
- Organization — company-wide resources: list of sites, firmware suites library, members, and organization settings.
- Account — personal user settings with General (name, email, password, account plan, account deletion) and Security (two-factor authentication, active sessions) tabs.
The sidebar layout adapts to the user's role: members only see sections permitted by their role. The selected site does not reset when navigating to Organization or Account.
How It Works
- The organization is determined by the selected site. There is no standalone organization switcher. If you belong to multiple organizations, sites in the switcher are grouped under their respective organization names (see "Working in Multiple Organizations").
- Every member uses their own account. Shared credentials are not needed, and actions taken by different individuals are traceable.
- Permissions are verified on the server. Hidden sections cannot be accessed directly via URL.
- Removing a member from an organization does not delete their account. The member loses access only to that organization; their account, personal space, and other organization memberships remain intact.
Notes
- In a Personal account, the organization layer is hidden, and members/roles are unavailable.
- An organization always has exactly one Owner. The Owner cannot be removed or suspended.
Personal and Business
The account type determines how your workspace in Pulse is organized: whether you work alone with a single site (Personal) or manage a team with multiple sites, members with different roles, and a shared organization (Business).
Site Access
Site access restricts which organization sites a member can view. Combined with a role, it defines full permissions: the role specifies "what can be done", and site access specifies "where". This ensures a technician on one farm cannot see another, and a hosting client cannot view equipment belonging to other customers. `v1.0.0-alpha4`
